Program Steps

1. Complete the application on-line at www.slmfinancial.com
2. After a credit evaluation, the student is either approved or advised to find a co-borrower.
3. Within 24 hours, the applicant is notified of the loan terms.
4. SLM e-mails the Promissory Note and Disclosure to Langa Air.
5. The Note and Disclosure are signed by the student and mailed back to SLM Financial.
6. As soon as Langa receives the paperwork, the student can begin training.
   NOTE: If a student has no income or no credit history, we recommend using a co-applicant.

   1. Begin Date: Put the earliest date that you want to start.
   2. End Date: We recommend you use a shorter time frame estimate than anticipated in order to avoid delays in your training. (For the professional pilot course, we recommend a 5 month interval.)
5. Loan Information:
   1. Total Loan Amount Requested: Include total flight course(s) estimate plus living expenses if applicable.
   2. Tuition Amount: Total flight course(s) estimate as presented by a langa Air representative
   3. Additional Expenses: maximum of $12,000
   4. Repayment Term: maximum of 20 years
   5. Repayment Option: Interest Only or Deferment. Maximum of 24 months on deferment option.
   6. Anticipated Graduation Date: Must be the same or later then the End Date entered in Item 4.
6. School Disbursement Information
   1. Disbursement: Regardless of the information you put in each of the disbursement fields, SLM calculates the disbursements based on the length of the course submitted previously. In order to avoid errors, put the entire Total Loan Amount Requested stated in Item 5 under Disbursement 1 and use the Begin Date that you stated in item 4 in the Date field.

TIPS:

1. To maximize the efficiency of the online process, we highly recommend that the borrower and cosigner are prepared to complete the application in one sitting. There is an option to "Save for Later" at the bottom of the "Credit Results Page"; choosing this option will dramatically slow down the application process.
2. It is not uncommon for SLM to submit a counter-offer of something less than originally applied. In that event, langaAir will be happy to provide alternatives.
3. Once approved, we recommend both the Borrower and Co Borrower E sign and send all support documents directly to langaAir so that we can scan and email in the documents.

In order to be eligible, the student will need to enroll concurrently in the Lewis and Clark degree program (there is no additional costs incurred for enrollment). Students can apply and receive multiple loans in the event the annual limits are less than needed.
